Pakgen Power revenue, profits post hefty gains in 2022

Pakgen Power Limited (PKGP), the electricity producer, declared the highest five-year revenue of Rs45.8 billion in 2022, growing its sales and gross profit by 130% and 109%, respectively, year-on-year, WealthPK reports. PKGP posted a gross profit of Rs3.47 billion, thus coming up with a gross profit ratio of 7.5%. The company posted a net profit Rs3.13 billion and a net profit ratio of 6.8% in 2022. PKGP posted earnings per share of Rs8.43.

In comparison to the previous year 2021, the power firm moved up revenues by 130% from Rs19 billion to Rs45 billion in 2022. Likewise, the gross profit of Rs1.66 billion posted in 2021 increased by 109% to Rs3.47 billion in 2022. Whereas, the net profit of Rs1.04 billion declared in 2021 jumped to Rs3.13 billion in 2022. Pakgen Power Limited is the fourth-largest company in the power generation and distribution sector, with a market capitalisation of Rs11.6 billion.

PKGP sales – CY18 to CY22

The company posted the all-time high sales in 2022 with the firm continuing to improve on its revenues since 2021. The company posted Rs16 billion in sales in 2018, followed by Rs12 billion in 2019 and Rs10 billion in 2020. However, the sales jumped to Rs19 billion in 2021.

PKGP profits – CY18 to CY22

PKGP posted the highest gross and net profit ratios in 2020 at 52% and 41%, respectively. PKGP posted Rs2.4 billion gross profit in 2018, followed by Rs4.5 billion in 2019 and Rs5.5 billion in 2020, but this profit plunged to Rs1.6 billion in 2021.

PKGP posted Rs1.4 billion net profit in 2018, followed by Rs2.9 billion in 2019 and Rs4.4 billion in 2020. However, the post-tax profit decreased to Rs1 billion in 2021 before rising to Rs3.13 billion in 2022.

PKGP EPS – CY18 to CY22

During the last five years, PKGP posted the highest earnings per share of Rs11.86 in 2020.'
