Pak-Iran agree to consider running international tourism train

ISLAMABAD: Jan 19 (INP) Pakistan and Iran have agreed to consider possibility of running an International Tourism Train between major cities of the two countries if the passenger train experiment, to launched before Moharram is successful. Minutes of the Joint Expert Committee Meeting between Pakistan and Iranian Railways finalized on Friday say that it will be mutually decided by DS Quetta and DG Zahidan Railways that in consultation with tourism departments of both countries, an International Tourism Train can also be run between major cities of Pakistan and Iran. It was decided that a relief train and relief crane will be positioned at Dalbandin station, Pakistan. The roster for passenger train between Pakistan and Iran is not decided yet. The up gradation of ML III will be taken as priority as it is going to be a busy track in near future, the officials hoped. ML III consists of Rohri ,Sukkar ,Sibi, Spezand, Quetta ,Noshki ,Dalbandin and Taftan section. The speed shall be increased at Quetta-Taftan section. At present due to deplorable condition of track the speed restriction is 40kmph.By replacing the track it would be 120 kmph to 160 kmph, which requires a huge investment.
