The launching of the Pak Identity mobile app by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will bring convenience to all citizens living within Pakistan and beyond the geographical boundaries, said a senior official. “This initiative is a revolutionary step towards achieving the objectives of Digital Pakistan,” said Chairman of NADRA Tariq Malik at a seminar titled “NADRA and Digital Pakistan” in Islamabad.

Highlighting the significant features of the next-generational Pak ID mobile app, the chairman said it had a built-in document recognition system and contactless biometric verification. “This allows users to enjoy a complete range of issuance services, including uploading and submitting documents, capturing photographs and fingerprints, and adding digital signatures using smartphones,” he explained.

According to a document of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom, the vision with regard to Digital Pakistan Policy is to become a strategic enabler for an accelerated digitisation ecosystem to expand the knowledge-based economy, and spur socio economic growth.

The new mobile app consists of several core features, including user registration with computerised national identity card (CNIC) number, mobile number verification, integration of stand-alone payment for swift payment, attester’s verification through consent management, real-time document identification, and secure data transmission through PKI (public key infrastructure) encryption.
