Pact inked for collaboration on rain harvesting, ground water assessment

ISLAMABAD, Jul 27: Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has signed an Agreement of Cooperation (AoC) with the Directorate General of Soil and Water Conservation Department (SWCD) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to collaborate and share expertise in rainwater harvesting and groundwater assessment, according to a press statement issued on Wednesday.

The collaboration will see sharing and exchange of knowledge, research, literature, exposure visits, capacity building, practical solutions for water quality problems, coordination and monitoring of water quality surveillance, rainwater harvesting techniques and groundwater resources assessment/investigation within the framework of Soil and Water Conservation Department.

Chairman PCRWR Dr. Muhammad Ashraf on the occasion provided an overview of his organisation’s initiatives in the country. He said that the PCRWR will support SWCD in their activities. The chairman expected that the new collaboration will be further strengthened through concerted efforts.

Yaseen Khan Wazir from SWCD presented an overview of SWCD activities in the province.

The Agreement of Cooperation was formally signed by Director General, PCRWR, Dr. Hifza Rasheed and Yaseen Khan Wazir.
