Only 39,700 cars sold during first quarter of current fiscal

The sale of cars has dropped by 47.03% in Pakistan during the first four months of the current fiscal as compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year, WealthPK reports. According to the data released by Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA), about 39,700 cars were sold during the first quarter of the current fiscal as compared to 74,952 units sold in the same period of the previous year. The breakup of the figures shows that 6,416 units of Honda Civic and City were sold during the first four months of the year 2022-23 as compared to the sale of 10,444 units last year, showing a decrease of 38.56%.

The sale of Toyota Corolla and Yaris cars also decreased by 57.04% as it went down to 8,253 units in the current year from 19,214 units in the same period of the previous year. However, the sale of Suzuki Swift went up by 608.79% and reached 3,466 units from 489 units in the previous year. The sale of Suzuki Cultus decreased to 2,952 units during the current year from 11,454 cars sold in the same period of last year.

Likewise, the sale of Suzuki WagonR also decreased to 2,181 units from 6,779 units in the same period of the previous financial year. The sale of Suzuki Alto also witnessed a sharp decline of 35.18% from 20,773 units to 13,464 units during the first four months of the ongoing year whereas the sale of Suzuki Bolan decreased to 1,469 units against 4,012 units in the corresponding period of last year, according to the data available with WealthPK.
