Oil and gas reserves discovered in Sindh

December 26, 2022

Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) has announced the discovery of oil and gas in the Sanghar District of the Sindh Province. The discovery has been made at the Kot Nawab-1 well in the district of Sanghar, according to the OGDCL sources. The results of wireline logs interpretation through the Drill Stem Test-1 in the Basal Sand have shown that 125 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 0.483 metric million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) gas through choke size 28/64 at well head flowing pressure (WHFP) of 150 pounds per square inch (Psi) are present in the newly discovered reserves.

The well through which the discovery has been made is a joint venture of OGDCL, Orient Petroleum and Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL). The work on the well started in June 2022 using OGDCL’s indigenous expertise. This is the eleventh discovery of OGDCL in the Sinjhoro Block. It shows that the joint venture partners of OGDCL are committed to discovering new hydrocarbon wells in the Sinjhoro block through an aggressive exploration strategy. This new oil discovery will help meet the energy demand of the country’s industry through supply from indigenous sources.
