The total number of pending applications for Net-Metering at all the power distribution companies of the country has exceeded 3,500. The actual number of applications that are in the pipeline, according to an official of the Power Division, is 3,521.He said these applications have been received in Islamabad Electric Supply Company, Lahore Electric Supply Company, Multan Electric Supply Company, Gujranwala Electric Supply Company, Sukkur and Hyderabad Electric Supply companies and Peshawar Electric Supply Company.

The official said that all applications will be processed under the rules and regulations of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) and Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB). Guidelines of these two entities are a part of standard operating procedures of the DISCOS ie power distribution companies.He continued, “Power Division has issued a notification to all DISCOs for timely processing of the Net-metering applications.

All net-meters will be installed in the specified time without any delays or hurdles.”He said that a dedicated team of Market Implementation & Regulatory Affairs Department (MIRAD) is closely monitoring the whole process of net-metering connections in all DISCOs for their timely execution. The official concluded by saying that in order to benefit consumers, DISCOs have allowed for self-purchase of bi-directional energy meters for net-metering from approved manufactures.
