Nawaz's 'homecoming rally' leaves for Lahore from Gujranwala among warm send off

GUJRANWALA, Aug 12 (INP) Ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, began his final round of his “GT Road Mission” from Gujranwala for Lahore on Saturday among enthusiastic send off. Visibly overwhelmed by the huge gatheriong, Nawaz Sharif responded to their slogans by waiving his hands. Nawaz Sharif who spent night in Gujranwala resumed his journey alongwith large number of supporters amidst vociferous slogans. Large crowds of supporters including men and women were seen at various crossings of Gujranwala city including Chan Da Qilla ,despite extreme weather. The former Prime Minister presided over a consultative meeting of party leaders and local MNAs and MPAs in Gujranwala Saturday before resuming day four of his ‘Mission GT Road’. PML-N sources said that the meeting held consultation over today’s rally and other organisational matters of the party. Senior leaders inlcuding Saad Rafique, Khurram Dastgir, Mushahidullah, Talal Chaudhry Marvi Memon and others attended the meeting. Ex-prime minister disqualified under the Article 62 and Article 63, Nawaz Sharif has claimed that no power can drive him out of people’s hearts. Marvi Memnon told media that the Prime Miister had a sumptuous breakfast before leaving Gujranwala for Lahore. Amir Muqaam, PML-N KPK President said the opponents must see the sentiments of the people who are not ready to accept that Nawaz Sharif has been removed from his post. Addressing the crowd Minister of state for Interior Talal Chaudhry said that Pakistan suffered immensely in the past as verdict of the people was ignored. In Lahore, the local police department has beefed up security in the provincial capital for former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s arrival with the Grand Trunk Road rally. According to details, the route of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) rally will be properly checked by experts of the special branch and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) while it will also be cleared by sniffer dogs. Personnel of Elite Force, special contingents of commandos and police officials would be deployed for protection of the rally when it enters the city limits. A comprehensive traffic plan has also been devised to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city. According to the plan, four SPs, 20 DSPs, 70 inspectors and over 2,000 wardens would perform duties during the rally s arrival. The traffic from Imamia Colony to Data Darbar has been divided into 11 sectors which will be monitored by one DSP each. Those travelling to Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar and Azad Kashmir have been directed to use Motorway for which Babu Sabu and Thokar Niaz Beg Interchanges will be opened. INP/AH
