LAHORE, Aug 10 (INP): Punjab Chief Minister (CM), Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said that Muslims of Indo-Pak subcontinent crossed the rivers of blood to achieve Pakistan and all the Muslims were united on a single platform for setting up an independent homeland under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The Chief Minister stated this while chairing a high level meeting held here on Thursday to review the arrangements of functions to be held in connection with upcoming 70th Independence Day of Pakistan to mark the day in a befitting manner. Shehbaz Sharif said that Independence is a great blessing and living nations observe their Independence Day in a befitting and colorful manner. Therefore, the 70th Independence Day would be celebrated in an active manner and the heroes of Pakistan Movement would be paid rich tributes. He said that the 70th anniversary of Independence Day is an opportunity to ponder over achievements and losses during the last 70 years and added that it is time to return back to the nation. The struggle of Pakistan Movement is filled with hard work and sacrifices of our elders and our country demands work and only work from us. The CM Punjab said that every person will have to work hard to move Pakistan ahead. He said that the buildings would be illuminated in a unique manner during Independence Day celebrations. During a briefing, CM Shehbaz Sharif was told that celebrations are being held from union council to provincial level. Provincial Ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Mansha Ullah Butt, Jahangir Khanzada, Additional Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary Home, DG Lahore Walled City Authority, secretaries and senior officials of the concerned departments attended the meeting.
