The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) and the University of Home Economics (UHE) have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote cooperation in education and research. Both institutions have agreed to collaborate on joint research projects in the areas of human nutrition, information technology and research. The UVAS would provide technical assistance to the UHE in strengthening their research, innovation and commercialization activities. They would jointly arrange conferences, seminars and symposia and exchange faculty members for research, lectures and discussion. They would also share their labs, research facilities and equipment with each other. Both institutions would develop research proposals as well as conduct joint research and development projects.
The information related to mutual workshops, symposia and conferences would be shared with the students and faculty of both institutions. The MoU was signed by UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad, Director Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) Dr. Ferhan Jamil from UVAS, UHE Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Kanwal Ameen and Deputy Director (ORIC) Tariq Aziz from University of Home Economics (UHE). Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad said that the cooperation would be very beneficial for both institutions especially for learning/ sharing each other's experiences, innovative knowledge, new ideas and practical skills.
Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen said that for the uplift of the institution it was direly needed to work on the faculty development for their capacity building. She spoke about the publication, areas of research, interest and objectives for the development of UHE. She also sought the assistance of UVAS in the development and upgradation of UHE labs. She also urged the need to include faculty impact in generating finances in the shape of research projects rather than the number of publications.
