Mobile phone imports fell over 67% in seven months

Mobile phone imports into the country have decreased by 67.35% in the first seven months of the current fiscal year (2022-23) compared to the same period the previous year. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the country imported mobile phones worth $414.801 million from July to January (2022–2023), down from $1270.412 million from July to January (2021–2022). It showed a reduction of 67.35%.

In the meantime, year over year, the import of mobile phones fell in January 2023 by 71.10% compared to the same month in the previous year. Mobile phone imports totalled $51.960 million in January 2023 compared to $179.765 million in exports during the same month last year, the PBS said. Compared to the imports of $72.291 million in December 2022, the imports of mobile phones similarly saw a monthly decline of 28.12% in January 2023.
