The Punjab government will set up a leather city in Kasur at a cost of Rs1.15 billion, WealthPK reports. Punjab Industries Secretary Ahmed Javed Bajwa told a meeting that of the total amount, Rs300 million would be spent during the current financial year on the establishment of the leather city. The meeting reviewed the matters pertaining to Leather Service Centre, the Government Institute of Leather Technology and Kasur Tanneries Waste Management Agency (KTWMA) in detail. Courses including leather processing, leather garments stitching, leather gloves, leather shoe uppers and leather goods were offered at the institute. The secretary said that the tanning industry played a vital role in the progress and development of the sector.
