Jeddah, Sept. 6 (INP): Ministers and officials from the public sector gathered in HANNOVER, Germany to discuss the cooperation required to kickoff manufacturing amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for a globally available vaccine.
According to Saudi Gazette, Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef delivered a keynote speech that addressed the challenges that have been triggered by the pandemic, and how the consequences of the virus are going to encourage manufacturers in the Kingdom to adopt new technologies like artificial intelligence and 3D printing more rapidly. “We believe, in Saudi Arabia, that one of the most important ways that we can accelerate the industrial sector is to adopt new waves of industrial revolution,” he said. “We have what it takes in terms of financial resources, in terms of setting the direction, but most importantly, we have the required talent as a result of our demographics. We have a lot of young people who are well-educated and will be able to accommodate these technologies and this is an avenue for them to enter into the industrial sector.” The event, a joint initiative by the United Arab Emirates and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), was held virtually for the first time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the impact of the virus on businesses, societies and economies was a recurring theme among speakers from various countries.
