Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan WADA Mitsuhiro on Wednesday said his country keenly desired to invest in Pakistani railway and aviation sectors.
The ambassador, who held a meeting with Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, discussed various bilateral mutual issues including Pakistan-Japan long standing relationship, which is marked by cordiality and friendship.
He appreciated the efforts of his ministry for allowing aircraft carrying Japanese passengers evacuated from Afghanistan.
WADA Mitsuhiro also conveyed his deepest sympathies to the government and the people of Pakistan over the devastation caused by the floods and offered condolences over the loss of life due to unprecedented monsoon rains in the country.
Khawaja Saad Rafique thanked the ambassador for the Japanese plan to provide 7 million dollars emergency assistance for the flood victims.
He said Japanese companies were always welcome to invest in Pakistan for which every possible support and cooperation would be extended to them.
Pakistan, he said, attached high importance to its relations with Japan and was desirous of further enhancing them in all fields of mutual interest, especially in railways and aviation.
