The government has assured the management of the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) of addressing their issues of stuck-up payments and others in a timely manner.
In this respect, Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail has formed a committee comprising the officials of the finance, power divisions and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to thrash out the modalities for clearing the payments, according to WealthPK.
The body would hold meetings with the chief executive officers of the IPPs to ensure that issues surrounding the withheld payments are resolved with mutual consent.
Miftah Ismail said that IPPs are the integral part of the mega CPEC project, and it is the government’s policy to facilitate them in every possible way.
He also held out an assurance to the Chinese investors in Pakistan, saying every possible step would be taken to provide all kinds of facilities to them.
After the assurance, the IPPs’ representatives expressed the hope that their outstanding payments would be cleared in a swift manner.
