Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal vows to fully implement NAP

ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (INP): Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has vowed to implement National Action Plan (NAP), which was passed by common consent of civil-military leadership, across the country. The meeting was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah, Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, national security advisor and others in Islamabad. He highlighted that all stakeholders, including center, provinces and security institutions are united against terrorism. During the meeting, the National Security Advisor apprised the participants of the ongoing operations launched to weed out terror groups in the country. The minister called on all pillars of state to be united against prevailing challenges, adding that Pakistan being a nuclear power has a unique status. About China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, Iqbal said all resources would be utilized to realise the project and foil all nefarious designs against it. On Tuesday in his maiden press conference, the interior minister said: “The coordination for implementation of the NAP needs to be improved as the institution — NACTA — established for the purpose could not play its due role effectively so far. The Express Tribune reported. NAP with a 20-point agenda had been launched in January 2015 following the Peshawar school attack in 2014 to rid the country of terrorism and avoid a repeat of similar massacre. INP/AJ
