Industrial boost can strengthen Pakistan’s economy: SAPM

November 10, 2022

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi has said if the country's industry is given a boost, it will strengthen the economy and lessen dependency on other countries. He was speaking during a visit to the Pakistan Industrial and Technical Assistance Center (PITAC). He went there to assess the educational and production arrangements made there. He took a tour of PITAC’s production wing, the College of Technology, and the JICA project office for balancing modernisation workshop facilities.

Tasneem acknowledged his pleasure with the standards and policies put in place for the students' technical education and stated that the institution is doing a good job of advancing industrial education. The industrial sector, he said, forms the foundation of the economy. In the present situation, he said, the PITAC’s role is crucial because individuals have investments but no ideas. He added, each division of the Ministry of Industries must play its proper share in enticing investors in order to boost the industries in the country.

Tasneem said that the Ministry of Industries and Production is raising people’s awareness of the advantages of local manufacturing through industries. He suggested the PITAC director general and other ministry members visit each chamber of the country to spread awareness about industrial production. Earlier, PITAC Director General Engr Muhammad Irfan Zaheer welcomed Tasneem Ahmed on his arrival and gave him an update on the institute's and regional centres' performance.
