India suspends Dosti Bus service

LAHORE, Aug 25 (INP): India has suspended Dosti Bus service on the request of Indian authorities worried over protests of Hindu militant outfit in Haryana. According to media reports, the Dosti Bus had to leave for Indian capital New Delhi from Lahore with 14-16 people but a little the bus’ departure it was stopped from crossing the border into Indian territory. India Authorities say that the law and order situation is not fine in Haryana, where the militant Hindu outfit is staging protests. The Dosti Bus Service would be restart once the situation in Haryana normalizes and this has also been conveyed to Pakistani authorities, Indian authorities claimed. It may be clarified that Lahore-New Delhi Dosti Bus Service was started in 1999 under the agreement made by the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif and the then Indian prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee the same year. It may be mentioned here that India had also suspended Lahore-Delhi Dosti Bus service in late September 2016 as tension at Line of Control and working boundary flared up following India claim of carrying out surgical strike along Line of Control (LoC).
