Ignite National Technology Fund, working under the Ministry IT and Telecom, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Institute of Rural Management (IRM) to achieve the Google Career Certification (GCC) targets. The MoU was signed by Asim Shahryar Husain, CEO of Ignite, and Dr Roomi S Hayat, CEO of IRM.
The IRM helps the youth to prepare six months training program under a brand-new program – Google Career Certifications. It is designed to prepare jobseekers and underprivileged communities to be job-ready with in-demand skills. This program offers tools to advance a youth’s career at a rapid pace, said an official statement.
On the occasion, Asim Shahryar Husain said this agreement shall provide both Ignite and IRM with a framework to achieve the GCC goals in the best way possible.
“We are eager to engage and equip our prospective learners with the GCC activities,” he said.
He also highlighted that through Digiskills Training Program, Ignite has already received more than 2.7 million enrollments over the last four years in 10 different freelancing courses, and in the Phase-II, Ignite has added five new courses this year and the target is to take Pakistan’s freelancing exports to a billion dollars within the next three to four years.
Dr Roomi S Hayat said the youth are the drivers of the nation, and the GCC program would function as a catalyst to open a new paradigm of opportunities for them. He said that during the last 30 years, the IRM trained 1.2 million youth in various trades/courses and ensured their economic independence and empowerment, especially women.
The IRM CEO stated that under this MoU, the IRM and Ignite shall enable youth to have practical employable in-demand certificate courses, and real time problem-solving skills to capture the bigger national and international job market. He added that they are pleased to partner with Ignite for the GCC which shall enable people to have real time problem-solving skills for the future of work job market.
As part of this agreement, the IRM and Ignite are expected to engage 15,000 learners through various initiatives across Pakistan. This agreement reinforces Ignite’s commitment towards supporting innovation and tech advancement.
In the statement, Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Syed Aminul Haque said this alliance will further equip people with theoretical and practical knowledge of gaining in-demand skills that can lead to jobs in the fields of IT support and automation.
“Programs like project management, UX design, data analytics, digital marketing and ecommerce and much more make easy access to Pakistani youth. This will also give an edge to certified trainees, while getting entry-level jobs besides achieving career advancement,” the minister said.
Amin said that Ignite carries an unmatched experience in delivering free online training, hence through this partnership, Ignite will help achieve the desired goals of IRM and Google. He also appreciated the Ignite team for bringing forth such valuable programs through national and international collaborations for the youth.
