Gold Imports up By 138% in 4mfy22

ISLAMABAD, Nov 24 (INP-WealthPK): Pakistan imported gold worth $5.626 million during the July-October period of 2021-22, registering a whopping increase of 138% compared to the imports of $2.364 million during the same period of 2020-21. In terms of quantity, the country imported 93 kilogrammes of gold during the four-month period under review compared to 39 kilogrammes imported during the same period of last year, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data showed. On year-on-year basis, gold worth $1.322 million was imported during October 2021-22, up by 1.07% from $1.308 million imports that took place in October 2020-21. Pakistan’s total merchandise exports during the July-October period of this fiscal were $9.462 billion, up by 24.94% from the $7.573 billion worth of exports during the same period of the last fiscal. Meanwhile, imports also surged by 65.40%, growing from $15.176 billion in the first four months of the last fiscal to reach $25.101 billion during the current fiscal.
