Germany has expressed keen interest in enhancing and strengthening bilateral economic and trade ties with Pakistan.
German Ambassador in Islamabad Alfred Grannas made this remark during a meeting with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail in Islamabad.
According to a press statement issued by the Finance Ministry, Miftah Ismail and Alfred Grannas discussed matters of mutual interest and stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral relations.
Miftah informed the German ambassador about the economic policies of the government, which are aimed at promoting trade and investment. He also highlighted bilateral relations and their level of development, saying that Pakistan highly values its ties with Germany.
Miftah apprised Grannas on the devastation caused by the current floods in Pakistan and the losses it inflicted on the country’s economy.
The ambassador expressed sympathy on the loss of lives and devastation caused by floods and extended his country’s full support for provision of flood relief.
The German envoy had said at a recent event in Islamabad that interaction with business organizations, including chambers, is necessary for the development of economic and trade relations between the two countries.
He said the German embassy in Islamabad is playing its role in promoting trade relations between the two countries. He said there is a lot of potential for trade between the two countries, and cooperation must be explored in more sectors.
