Food group exports increase by 7.39% in February

Pakistan’s food group exports in February 2023 grew by 7.39% to $518.871 million compared to $483.162 million during the corresponding month of 2022, WealthPK reported. On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, the country’s food group exports grew by 35.10% during the period under review, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data available with WealthPK.

However, the food group exports from the country during last eight months of current financial year decreased by 6.08% compared to the same period last year. During the period from July-February 2022-23, food commodities worth $3.226 billion were exported compared to $3.434 billion during the same period of last year.

On a year-on-year (YoY) basis, the country’s imports of food goods reduced by 12.25% during February 2023 compared to the same month of last year. Food goods costing $703.774 million were imported during February 2023 compared to $801.981 million during the same month last year. The country’s food imports during last eight months of the current financial year grew by 3.98% to $6.687 billion against $6.431 billion during the corresponding period of last year.
