MURREE, Aug 02 (INP): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Wednesday that a clear message has been sent to the world that the prime minister can be changed but the party’s policies will remain the same.
He attended consultative meeting with Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and party leaders in Pakistan ’s picturesque hill station Murree.
Speaking to journalists, Prime Minister Abbasi said that consultations were ongoing and would continue over the next few days after which the cabinet would be sworn in.
He added that Nawaz Sharif has directed the party to swiftly complete ongoing projects.
The new cabinet was initially supposed to be sworn in on Wednesday but was postponed in the afternoon.
He said the cabinet ministers will take oath within one or two days, adding that the ruling party has currently conducting consultation on the names of cabinet members.
PM Shahid expressed confidence that they will retain the NA-120 in by-election after disqualification of Nawaz Sharif in Panama case by Supreme Court. He foresaw a victory by greater majority in the by-polls.
When asked whether Chaudhry Nisar and Ishaq Dar will retain their ministers, he said the PML-N is currently consulting the final list of ministers, which will be announced in near future.
Abbasi rose to premiership after attaining 221-vote majority in the lower house during yesterday s session. He was supported by MQM-Pakistan and other coalition parties, apart from PML-N legislators.
Earlier Newly-elected Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi called on former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Murree.
During the meeting, overall political situation of the country and formation of federal cabinet were discussed.Sources said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was also present in the meeting.
