FCCI Holds Economic Conference, Focusing on How to Improve Pakistan’s Socio-Economic Prosperity

By Faiza Tehseen ISLAMABAD, March 24 (INP-WealthPK): The Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) organised its first ever economic conference in Islamabad participated by the representatives of all the chambers in Pakistan, field experts, government officials and successful business executives. The conference focussed on the most pressing issue of how to improve Pakistan’s socio-economic prosperity. All the ambitious members presented their solutions to realise the desired objective. The agenda of the conference centred on Islamic finance (opportunities & challenges), information technology (start-ups & future), agriculture (technology & value addition), and business opportunities (SMEs, JVs & synergies, Special Economic Zone-Faisalabad (M3/AIIC, features & potential). Muhammad Azhar Chaudhry, Executive Member from the Corporate Class FCCI, chaired the conference. In a detailed discussion with WealthPK about the importance of the conference, he said, “In this conference, collateral issues faced by our trade and business sectors were discussed as pivotal points. The other topic of the discussion covered the role and problems of start-ups, SMEs and women entrepreneurs. He said the private sector organized the conference and no demand from the government was discussed. How to seek new work opportunities for the socio-economic betterment of Pakistan was discussed in detail. To motivate start-ups, short sessions were also conducted, he added. A good number of trade and business community representatives from different business platforms joined the session. It was decided that fruitful sessions of this type must be made a regular part of Pakistan’s business culture. Muhammad Azhar also discussed about the value of training related to import of exports sector. He said, "Our traders must be made aware and trained to cope with the challenges of international markets. Our traders and businessmen are well-accustomed to international trade norms now. This conference is an effort to provide them with a platform to coordinate their expertise for the new-comers. All the participants got amazed with the agenda and experience profited from this session”. Talking to WealthPK, Vice President of Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Muhammad Hassan Yousaf said, “This conference proved the real need of the time to discuss about the ground realties of trade and business. The enthusiastic participation of field experts, government officials and other successful business executives helped understand the importance of emerging business and trade sectors." "Multiple aspects to enhance Pakistan’s economic level came under discussion with positive solutions. Now, our businessman is well aware of the importance of focusing on the business as a priority to bring socio-economic prosperity in Pakistan. The arrival of guest speakers and panellists from multinational companies also helped satisfy many queries about Islamic banking. A lot many questions were in the mind of majority of businessmen. In this conference, a special briefing lined by all religious aspects was delivered. It helped clear the minds to a great extent."
