Experts expect trade bonanza after PM’s SCO visit

Economic experts have welcomed Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s attendance at the SCO meeting and expressed hope it would help boost trade and investment relations with the friendly countries, reports WealthPK. The prime minister led a delegation to the Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) held in Samarkand on 15-16th September.

Talking to WealthPK, renowned economist Dr Shahid Hassan appreciated the successful visit of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and said he had effectively represented the country and highlighted the devastating floods that wreaked havoc across the country. The premier told the forum that climate change had mostly affected poor countries, including Pakistan, and that developed countries were more responsible for the phenomenon for not properly implementing climate protocols.

Dr. Shahid also appreciated the prime minister for discussing trade and economic relations with the friendly SCO members. He also called for unity among different political parties to effectively cope with the devastating flood situation in an effective way. Veteran business community leader and former senior vice president of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Meher Kashif Younis also appreciated Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for effectively pleading Pakistan’s case at an important forum, especially highlighting the recent devastating flood in Pakistan and the colossal human and material losses.

He also lauded the prime minister for highlighting investment and trade opportunities in Pakistan at the forum. Meher Kashif Younis expressed the hope that Premier Shehbaz’s participation in the SCO summit would help attract foreign direct investments from these countries. Meher said the premier’s visit would also further strengthen bilateral relations, especially in trade and investment.
