LAHORE, Aug 24 (INP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that during the tenure of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), national issues have been solved to a large extent and added that Pakistan of 2017 is more secure and prosperous as compared with 2013. Talking to elected representatives who called on him here on Thursday, Shehbaz Sharif said that due to the unanimous decisions made by political and military leadership, tremendous achievements have been gained in the war against terrorism and it is sanguine to note that commitment of Pakistani nation for the elimination of terrorism and fanaticism is unwavering. He said that the great sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in war against terrorism are unprecedented and due to these immortal sacrifices, the peace has been restored in motherland. Terrorism and fanaticism are not the fate of Pakistani nation and with the grace of Almighty Allah; Pakistan shall be made a heaven of peace and tranquility by completely annihilating the menace of terrorism, he added. Shehbaz Sharif said that speedy development is directly correlated with economic stability and continuity in policies. The economy has been strengthened due to the solid policies of the government in four years and increase in foreign exchange reserves is another achievement of the incumbent government. The sincere efforts of the government for the strengthening of economy have resulted and the economic activities have been increased besides creating new opportunities of employment. As a result of it, Pakistan is more economically vibrant than ever before, he added. The Chief Minister said that the government has moved the country towards development and prosperity by wriggling it out of the quagmire of problems. The pivot of the politics of PML-N is selfless service of the people. The PML-N leadership has served the masses with commitment and passion and come up to the expectations of the people. The mandate given by the people has been honored and the promises made with the masses are fulfilled as well. He said that untiring efforts have been made to provide quality facilities to the people and the agenda of public service will be fulfilled till our last breathe. Shehbaz Sharif further stated that the tenure of PML-N government is historic with regard to progress and modernization as the latest infrastructure is required for speedy development. This is the reason that infrastructure has been improved in Punjab with a cost of billions of rupees. He said that thousands of kilometers of carpeted roads have been made in rural localities under Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Program. This project has proved a game changer for the strengthening of rural economy and it is important to point out that this is, by far, the largest project of construction and rehabilitation of rural roads in the history of the country. The Chief Minister said that due to the construction of carpeted roads in rural areas, improved transport facilities have been made available to the rural populace. The Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Program has also left positive impacts over the agricultural economy as the farmers have been provided important facility to take their agricultural produce to the markets. A large portion of the rural population has been benefiting from this revolutionary program and due to improved infrastructure, Punjab has become a hub of trade and economic activities in the country, Shehbaz Sharif concluded.
