Demand for Pakistani workers increases globally: Minister

March 02, 2023

Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sajid Hussain Turi said the demand for Pakistani workers is rising on a worldwide scale. Speaking at a ceremony where a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Poly Technical Institute Gilgit-Baltistan and Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) was signed, the minister stated that the main goal of such MoUs was to expand the opportunities for people in the country's underdeveloped regions to receive skills-based training.

Sajid Turi stated that the youth of all the provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, will be given equal access to international work opportunities. According to him, the OEC will prepare the population to fulfil the demands of the global labour market. To deter unauthorised immigration, the minister declared that Pakistan will send more than 5,000 employees to Iraq via OEC and overseas employment promoters.

According to the OEC's Managing Director Naseer Khan Kashani, the South Korean government has boosted the number of jobs available for Pakistanis. He emphasised that Pakistan will export trained labour to Australia, Germany, Italy, Japan, and other countries in the near future.
