ISLAMABAD Nov 24 (INP-WealthPK): Over 6.85 million cotton bales have arrived at ginning factories across the country till Nov 15, posting a massive 70% increase from the arrivals of the same period of last year. Of the total arrivals, contribution of the Punjab province was 3.41 million bales with an increase of 58%, and Sindh contributed 3.43 million bales up by 83%, a fortnightly report released by Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) says. It says over 6.5 million bales have gone under the ginning process at factories. Of the over 6.24 million bales sold out so far, the textile mills have bought a major chunk of 6.2 million bales, and the exporters have bought a paltry 16,400 bales. Over 600,000 bales still lie with the ginneries unsold. The Sindh province’s Sanghar district tops the list of cotton bales arrivals with 1.3 million. Presently, Punjab has 282 and Sindh 162 ginning factories operational.
