Secretary Livestock and Dairy Development Punjab Muhammad Malik Bhulla said contemporary research was urgently needed to produce highbred cattle as the country's requirement for milk and meat depends on the expansion of the cattle sector. Speaking during a visit to the Barani Livestock Production Research Institute (BLPRI), Kheri Murat said that the Punjab government will keep taking proactive measures to advance the livestock sector.

Malik Bhulla highlighted the necessity of accelerating the research process while praising the BLPRI's performance. He promised to take action to ensure the wellbeing of the employees and officials involved in raising livestock and doing research on it. He also inaugurated a boys' hostel in Kheri Murat that was built as part of the new development project. Later, after visting several departments, he exhibited interest in salt range sheep and bulls of the "Dhanni" breed. During the briefing, Director of BLPRI Dr Muhammad Aslam provided a thorough overview of the institute, the five-year review report and the new objectives.
