Chinese machinery giants help Pakistan's infrastructure projects for livelihood

December 20, 2021

Islamabad, Dec 20 (INP):  A total of 9 Zoomlion HBT60.16.110SU trailer pumps was transported to Pakistan to help the construction of the Suki Kinari (SK) Hydropower Project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a report carried by Gwadar Pro, this is another action taken by Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. to actively participate in the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and actively contribute to the construction of local people’s livelihood projects.

“Facing local challenges such as long transportation distances, poor road conditions, and multiple loading and unloading of vehicles, we successfully completed the task by standardized packaging and strict protection”, said Simon, Country Manager of Zoomlion Concrete Machinery Overseas Marketing Company, in an interview with Gwadar Pro.

The construction of the SK Hydropower Station officially started in 2017. As a key part in the first batch of priority projects in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, it has attracted great attention from the governments of China and Pakistan and all sectors of society.

“This trailer pump can not only meet the construction needs of various heights and working conditions of Pakistan’s hydropower stations, but also is energy-saving and durable.”
A product manager told Gwadar Pro, “Moreover, our on-site and after-sales services are also an important reason why customers choose us.”
Zoomlion entered the Pakistani market for the first time in 2004. For more than ten years, it has been helping Pakistan's economic and social development by registering local subsidiaries for in-depth localization development, exporting high-quality products to participate in local construction.
Currently, its participating projects include PKM Highway Project, Karachi K2K3 Nuclear Power Project, Hub Power Plant Project, LUCKYPOWER Project, Thar Coal Mine Project, Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Plant, Karot Hydropower Project, Dasu Hydropower Project, SK Hydropower Project, Qasim 2*660MW Coal-fired Power Station and the Hyderabad Wind Energy Project, covering almost all major infrastructure projects in Pakistan.
So far, the number of products and equipment of Zoomlion in the Pakistan market has reached nearly 2,000.

Besides, its Pakistani subsidiary has also developed into a fully localized platform with multiple functions, such as product and technical training for local employees and clients, and develop local partners.

Established in 2016, 60 percent of current employees of Zoomlion Pakistan Branch are Pakistani natives.
“In terms of personnel training, the mode of "one-to-one" guidance by Chinese employees to locals, combined with the professional and systematic training organized by the company's headquarters for foreign employees, has cultivated many local engineering machinery talents,” Simon mentioned.
“Affected by the epidemic prevention and control measures, local employees can reach the project site much more conveniently to deal with more than 80 percent of the on-site problems, and the employees of China and Pakistan have achieved complementary advantages. For example, Pakistani engineer Faraz, through continuous learning in four years, as the main force during the epidemic period, effectively guaranteed the normal operation of the large-tonnage crawler crane products of a large-scale Chinese-funded wind power project.
In addition, the local salesperson Shahar, from the novice to the business expert who is proficient in the knowledge of products sale, his professional ability and attitude have been appreciated by local customers many times.”

“With the development of the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, we will continue to promote the localization strategy by further enhancing the localization construction and the function construction of subsidiaries, making greater contributions to the friendship and economic development of the two countries,” Simon concluded confidently.
