July 03, 2020

BEIJING,    (INP); China-Pakistan joint cooperation mechanism on COVID-19 response is to further join forces against the pandemic, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian at a regular press briefing...

According to Gwadar Pro, Zhao said, the China-Pakistan joint cooperation mechanism on COVID-19 response was officially established on June 30 a and the first video conference held then.

Representatives from the diplomatic, health, education and customs departments of the two sides attended the meeting. China and Pakistan have set up this mechanism to strengthen multi-agency coordination and communication between the two countries and promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields against the backdrop of the regular epidemic prevention and control.
Zhao said the meeting reached three consensus:

First, the two sides will continue to take targeted measures to resolutely control the spread of the epidemic or its resurgence in one’s own countries and to stop cross-border transmission. Second, the two sides will continue to deepen cooperation and experience-sharing in fighting COVID-19. China will continue to do its best to provide support and assistance according to Pakistan's needs.
Third, the two sides should continue to promote personnel exchanges and economic and trade cooperation on the premise of effective quarantine measures, be a good host to each other's students and nationals, and ensure smooth progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Zhao said that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic partners. After the outbreak of COVID-19, Pakistani President Alvi led a delegation to China at a critical moment in the fight, demonstrating firm support.
Pakistan has also mobilized the whole country to provide material assistance to China. In response to Pakistan's needs, China has also provided material assistance through the government, military, enterprises and social organizations, sent medical experts and held video conferences to do its best to help Pakistan fight the epidemic.

This demonstrates that the two countries, standing together through thick and thin, are a community with a shared future.
Zhao said, “We hope that the two sides will take the establishment of this mechanism as an opportunity to further join forces against COVID-19 and defeat the virus at an early date.” INP/javed
