BEIJING, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese official on Tuesday called for international anti-corruption cooperation in COVID-19 response to ensure that anti-epidemic funds and materials are used for saving lives.
Yang Xiaodu, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the National Commission of Supervision, made the remarks when attending a video conference on integrity in COVID-19 response and economic recovery by the Belt and Road cooperation partners.
Noting that global anti-corruption governance is facing new challenges, Yang called on all relevant parties to jointly combat cross-border business bribery, and create a standardized and legalized business environment under the principle of consultation and cooperation for shared benefits.
Before the conference, Yang met Ghada Waly, the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), exchanging views with her on global anti-corruption governance and preparations for the special session of UN General Assembly on anti-corruption issues in 2021 via video link.
He said later that all parties should adhere to multilateralism, support the authority of UN in global anti-corruption governance, and make due contributions to building a better world with practical anti-corruption actions.
Representatives from 22 countries and international organizations participated in the conference online.
