Car sales fall by 38% in five months

The number of cars sold during the first five months of the current fiscal year 2022–23 decreased by 38.93% when compared to the same months of last year, according to statistics given by the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA). Over the months of July through November 2022–23, up to 55,144 cars were sold, compared to 90,303 during the same period the previous year. According to the breakdown data, 7,925 Honda Civic and Honda City units were sold during July to November of 2022–23 compared to 13,215 units sold during the same period the previous year, showing a decline of 40.03%.

The sales of Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris vehicles fell by 57.51% to 10,186 units this year from 23,975 units during the same period last year, PAMA said. The sales of Suzuki Swift, on the other hand, surged 1053.93% from 495 to 5,712 units. Suzuki Cultus sales fell to 4,088 units from 13,105 units during the same period the previous year. Suzuki WagonR sales fell to 2,899 units from 8,768 units during the same period last year. During the months under examination, the sales of Suzuki Alto dropped by 10.66% from 23,193 units to 20,719 units, while the sales of Suzuki Bolan dropped to 1,973 units from 5,201 units during the same period last year, PAMA data shows.
