The sales of cars during the first two months of current fiscal year 2022-23 (July-August) dropped by 49.80% as compared to the same period of 2021-22, according to Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA).
Data shows that as many as 19,358 cars were sold during the months under review as compared to 38,568 units during the same period of 2021-22.
According to a press statement received by WealthPK, 3,844 units of Honda Civic and City were sold during the first two months of 2022-23 as compared to 4,426 units during the corresponding period of last year, showing a dip of 13.14%.
The sales of Toyota Corolla and Yaris also decreased by 48.42% to 4,635 units in July-August 2022-23 from 8,987 units during the same period of 2021-22.
However, Suzuki Swift’s sales went up by 125.06% to 853 units as against 379 units last year, whereas the sales of Hyundai Elantra also increased from 415 to 581 units during the period under review.
The sales of Suzuki Cultus decreased to 1,072 units in first two months of FY23, whereas 7,058 units were sold during the corresponding period of last year. The sales of Suzuki WagonR also decreased to 647 units from 3,810 units during the period under review.
Suzuki Alto's sales also witnessed a sharp decline of 37.96% from 11,141 units to 6,911 units, whereas the sales of Suzuki Bolan decreased to 580 units from 2,047 units during the months under review.
