Air traffic between Pakistan and China witness quantum jump

October 06, 2017

ISLAMABAD, Oct. 6 (INP): China's flag carrier airline Air China has announced to increase its flights for Pakistan on the Beijing-Islamabad-Karachi route. The Airline has decided to operate seven flights in a week from 29th of this month. Ministerial Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy Zhao Lijian in Islamabad said that the development of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has provided a good opportunity for Air China to extend its business in Pakistan. Four years back, the Air China has only one or two weekly flights on this route. The quantum jump in air traffic communication was witnessed during the last four years. It reflects growing business-related activities and people-to-people contacts between the two countries. The CPEC is a major factor behind this development, besides the efforts on the part of the Chinese embassy here. There has been unprecedented increase in number of visas issued by the embassies of the two countries on daily basis. The traffic flow is improving with a passage of time. Around 22,000 students, studying in China added to this traffic flow. President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan in April 2015 injected a new enthusiasm in their bilateral relations. The visit laid strong foundation for enhanced people-to-people contacts. The people of Pakistan and China who are known as iron brothers attached high importance to their growing mutually beneficial cooperative partnership, and there is a growing interest on their part to increase socio-economic and cultural activities.
