ISLAMABAD, July 27: Researchers from ILMA University Karachi have introduced a face detection system with voice and biometric technologies, which can determine a person's gender and age, demonstrating significant advancements in science and technology.

During a conversation with WealthPK, Arsalan Butt, business technology research lecturer at Sir Syed CASE Institute of Technology Islamabad, said that face detection with voice and biometric technology can help enhance security.

“The system helps to maintain security as it extracts information like pose, expression, gender, age and identity,” he said.

Arsalan elaborated on the particular algorithms that have been used in the system for face and voice detection.

“Cascade classification algorithms have been used in the application to create human templates. Templates are created on the basis of multiple shots of a person. Now the facial features of the person are matched with the database. By this matching of a person’s features with data, we can mark attendance in the institutes,” he said.

He further elaborated, “If we have a powerful camera, we would be able to recognize anyone with the help of face detection. This system is very effective and can be implemented in various platforms and areas like airports, stadium, and parks.”

Talking about the technical specification of the system, Arsalan said Python programming language was used in developing the system's environment, and an advanced machine learning technique is utilised to identify facial traits contained inside an image.

Postage SQL (database management system) is utilised to create the system's database when it's first set up. In order to leverage the benefits offered by this technology, embedded systems such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and others can be used.

Arsalan mentioned that students are now tending to focus more of their attention on the most recent research technology.

The field of artificial intelligence is one that is still in the process of development. Artificial intelligence makes it possible to automate a variety of different systems. Complex analyses are often performed with the assistance of this technology. Additionally, AI can help in decision making based on analysed data.

“For instance, we are able to train algorithms in such a way that they can choose which stocks to buy and sell on their own. The development of extremely effective trading bots is another area of interest among students,” Arsalan said.
