A delegation of the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) Executive Directors from Japan, China, and South Korea paid a visit to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and reaffirmed the ADB's commitment to continuing to collaborate closely with Pakistan in addressing the country’s economic issues.

The prime minister praised the long-standing relationship between Pakistan and ADB, as well as the bank’s role as a dependable partner in Pakistan's socioeconomic growth. He was also grateful for ADB's kind assistance during the floods of 2022. This covers the grant for immediate relief, Post Disaster Needs Assessment, and the promises made at the Geneva Climate Resilience Conference.

The prime minister also acknowledged the finances provided by the ADB to Pakistan's major economic sectors, notably the social, energy, transportation, and environmental sectors. He expressed the expectation that ADB will maintain its close relationship with Pakistan in order to overcome the macroeconomic difficulties facing the country.

The delegation was informed that the 9th Review for the International Monetary Fund programme is proceeding well, and a staff-level agreement is anticipated in the coming days. Pakistan is committed to completing the changes outlined in the agenda, the prime minister said. The executive directors of the ADB expressed their sincere gratitude for the government's efforts in overcoming the enormous obstacles posed by the recent floods' damage.
