ISLAMABAD: Aug 3 (INP): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi began his work formally at the Prime Minister House here on Thursday. On arrival at the PM house he was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of the three services. Later the Prime Minister met senior officials of the Prime Minister House and asked them to work with honesty and dispose different files expeditiously. Meanwhile PML-N sources say that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi could continue as the premier till next year’s general elections. Some senior leaders have advised against removing Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif from his slot and elevating him as prime minister atleast till the next general elections. They are of the opinion that Shehbaz Sharif was executing many projects and would be the most popular leader in the province to bag maximum seats in the National and Punjab Assemblies. Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said he and senior Ministers in Punjab were in favour of Shahbaz Sharif continuing as Chief Minister for the time being so as not to leave the electoral field open to PTI and PPP. Senior PML-N leader Khawaja Asif, however, said it is all but certain that Shehbaz will become the prime minister after the necessary procedures are undertaken. Asif added that Nawaz is still reviewing the situation and another outcome is possible. INP/AH
