800 growers trained to maximize wheat yield

January 05, 2023

The National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) has organized 10 sessions in different areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Azad Kashmir, training over 800 wheat growers to boost per acre output during the current Rabi season, reports WealthPK. The training was aimed at making the growers more competitive in the local markets and increasing their income. The growers were trained in efficient crop management practices including use of water, fertilizers and pesticides. They were also trained in weed management to ensure maximum per-acre output, said Dr Sikander Khan, National Coordinator Wheat, NARC.

Dr Sikandar said the NARC under its National Wheat Program had conducted these training sessions in Gujarat, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan divisions of Punjab, adding that the farmers of Mirpur Azad Kashmir, Attock, Kallar Syedan and Hazro were also trained in crop management. In order to achieve higher per-acre wheat output during the current season, Dr Sikandar said the NARC evolved a strategy to impart training to the farmers.
