WASHINGTON, (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he probably would send some U.S. troops from Germany to Poland during his joint press conference with visiting Polish President Andrzej Duda.
Duda, the first foreign leader to visit the United States since the coronavirus outbreak, said at the press conference that "there is a possibility of a further increase in American troops in our country."
Trump confirmed last week that his country would reduce the U.S. troop level in Germany to 25,000, which raised speculations that some of the troops could be relocated to Poland.
In a Sunday piece on The Wall Street Journal, National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien noted that several thousand troops currently stationed in Germany might be reassigned to other countries in Europe. ■
