President urges national leadership to bury hatchet, get united on constitution for sake of national interests ; Says nation’s temperament primarily democratic and parliamentary

ISLAMABAD, Aug 14 (INP) President Mamnoon Hussain has urged the national leadership to bury their hatchet and get united on Constitution of Pakistan and ensure its supremacy for the sake of national interests. “I urge the whole nation especially all stake holders to unite under the Constitution of Pakistan in the national interest by setting aside their differences and ensure its supremacy”. He was addressing the nation after unfurling national flag at central flag hoisting ceremony held at Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad on Monday. The ceremony was attended, among others, by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang, members of the federal cabinet, services chiefs, members of the diplomatic community , senior civil and military officials and a large number of students from different educational institutions. The President emphasized that protection of Constitution and its strict adherence is a guarantee of peace, progress and prosperity of the country. He said the nation expects from the leadership to demonstrate moderation and wisdom as dream of economic revival would remain unfulfilled in the midst of tension. President Mamnoon Hussain pointed out that history tells us temperament of the nation is fundamentally democratic and parliamentary in nature. The nation demonstrated this time and again by reposing confidence in democracy and the parliamentary system. He said there is unrest among people especially youth vis-a-vis future of the country as once again some circles are raising questions about suitability of the prevailing system of governance. He said debates on national issues are appreciable but these should not be out of the context. He said ever since inception of Pakistan, we experimented different systems but express our uneasiness before these experiments start yielding fruits. He said we should not display haste in deducing conclusions. The President said we can succeed only if all segments of society arrive at consensus on the national plan of action. He said the challenges confronting Pakistan demand pursuance of the policy of moderation and prudence. President Mamnoon Hussain asked people not to get disappointed about future of the country as such phases do come in the lives of nations. He said we will have to shun the tendency of polarization and transform differences and hatred into sincerity, love and affection. He said it is responsibility of each and every citizen of the country to play his or her role in preserving independence and take Pakistan to new heights of progress and development. Mamnoon Hussain said on the joyous occasion of independence we should not keep our eyes close to national objectives. He said we should not deviate from the designated course for realization of the national objectives. The flag hoisting ceremony was attended by Chief of honour Chinese Vice Prime Minister Wang Yang, Earlier, sirens were sounded to herald the flag-hoisting ceremony and national anthem was played.
